Founded in 1837 as a Parisian harness and saddle maker, Hermès was destined to expand beyond its exquisite equine pieces since it arrived at 24 rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honore in 1880. From there, it launched its highly successful product diversification at the dawn of the 20th century. Six generations of enterprising artisans perpetuated the cult of beautifully crafted materials, the love of stunning objects made to last, and the spirit of innovation into a new age, giving rise to new trademark pieces. Among them are the iconic 'Kelly' bag and the Chaine d’ Ancre bracelet as well as the Hermes silk scarf, known all over the world for its rich colors and diverse designs. In 1984, Hermes made the natural transition from illustrator of silk to illustrator of porcelain, introducing numerous dinnerware patters and elegant gifts that continue to carry the quintessential class and unrivalled craftsmanship of Hermes.
