Cheers to 2016!

GEARYS welcomes in the new year with the iconic Waterford Crystal

As the ball dropped in Times Square, a symphony of champagne toasts around the globe began, and Waterford crystal once again helped us welcome the New Year. This year, we ushered in 2016 with a toast to the world’s best-selling crystal pattern, the iconic ‘Lismore’.

For the past sixteen years, the celebrated Irish crystal maker has designed the luminous centerpiece of New Year celebrations known as the Waterford Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball. This year’s design was inspired by the Gift of Wonder and "[encompassed] our everlasting fascination with the unknown and unexplored." The new pattern features 288 Waterford crystal triangles that are "composed of a faceted starburst that brings a sense of wonderment, fantasy and optimism – helping us image what the future holds." At the stroke of midnight 2,688 crystal triangles rang in the new year and illuminated the city with the help of thousands of LED lights.

But Waterford’s role in the New Year doesn’t end there. If you have ever toasted a gorgeous champagne flute with a particularly melodic ‘clink’, you might find yourself celebrating with Lismore crystal. By nesting diamond and wedge cuts into a pattern designed by Waterford’s founders two centuries prior, Chief Designer Miroslav Havel created the iconic Lismore Collection, one of the most recognizable patterns in the Waterford archive for the last 60 years.

Join the millions that toast to life’s new beginnings year-round with Lismore,
the world’s best-selling crystal pattern by Waterford.
